Songbird Sings

C A Roth and Paula Held 6-5-08

On the cities fringe it’s torn up streets
holes in his pockets nothing to eat
he found salvation in her angel wings
she said come sit where the songbird sings

take my food take my bed
fill your plate rest your head
you’ll be whole when the daybreak brings
you back again when the songbird sings

Ooooh you will fly Ooooh you will cry
she wills you ‘neath her welcome wings
it’s a temple there when the songbird sings

when the songbird sings you’ll find shelter
from the angry wind your search is over
gather all when her church bell rings
it’s a soothing sound when the songbird sings

so listen well when the songbird sings
dip your cup in her healing spring
it’s a fountain of perfect love
you’ll find wings when the songbird sings
